Small, and properly divided

Five rooms inside thirty-one square metres: a living room of eleven metres, a separate bedroom of eight and a half with a door that closes, an entrance hall, a tiled washroom and the sauna. Puustelli fittings, an oak-toned interior and heated floors underfoot.

The layout

Five rooms in thirty-one metres

Living room, a separate bedroom, entrance hall, tiled washroom and sauna. Areas are taken from the architect’s drawing; the arrangement shown is schematic.

Heat, then snow, then heat again

Panelled in heat-treated pine, with a tiled washroom a step away. No booking slot and nobody else’s timetable — you heat it when you feel like it.

Warm through slowly, step out into the snow, stand there long enough to feel foolish, then go back in. Do it twice in an evening and you will sleep like you have not slept in years.

Warm without waste

Solid laminated log under a roof carrying nearly half a metre of insulation. Dark stained outside, left as timber inside.

Solar panels on the roof, an air heat pump doing the heavy lifting, and mechanical ventilation that recovers the heat it would otherwise throw away. New construction, built for a climate that tests buildings properly.

Questions we get asked

How many people does the villa sleep?

Four at most. There is the bedroom, and a wide sofa bed in the living room of every villa.

Are the villas open all year?

Not all year. At the moment we run from autumn through to spring.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Arrival from 16.00, and departure by 11.00 on the day you leave.

Can we book two villas side by side?

Yes. Several identical villas stand next to each other, which works well for two families or a group travelling together. Ask us and we will place you as close as availability allows.

Is there a hot tub?

No. Every villa has its own sauna, but there is no outdoor hot tub.

How far is Rovaniemi?

Fifteen minutes by car to both the airport and the city centre. The last stretch is a 1.5 km forest road off the Kittilä highway.
